Summary

Aquila Elementary is a public elementary school in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, serving 499 students in grades K-5. It is part of the St. Louis Park Public School District, which is ranked 122 out of 446 districts in the state.

Aquila's academic performance is mixed compared to district and state averages. The school excels in math, particularly among 5th-grade students, but struggles with reading proficiency, especially in 3rd grade, and science performance across all grades. Aquila's White and African American students perform relatively well, ranking in the top 25% and top 30% of Minnesota elementary schools, respectively. However, students with special education needs and those from low-income families perform below average compared to their peers statewide.

When compared to nearby schools, Aquila's performance is generally lower than the highly-ranked Park Spanish Immersion Elementary, but better than some other schools in the Hopkins Public School District, such as Eisenhower Elementary and Alice Smith Elementary. To improve, Aquila could focus on enhancing its reading and science instruction, particularly for its lower-performing subgroups, and examine its practices and resources to better support students from low-income families and those with special education needs.

Open Quote Cannot deal with special needs of high IQ kids, look for info on lawsuit 2017. We left for a school that understands high IQ kids' needs and are much happier. Close Quote

Open Quote Every few weeks our son would come home with a paper from the teacher "reminding parents" that children need 9+ hours of sleep, and that hitting is not accepted. my son was in kindergarten and the stories he came home with are sick. Kids choking other kids, pushing hitting. I am NOT sending my son there for 1st grade. Close Quote
