Westonka High School

Westonka High School is a public school in Minnetrista, Minnesota — a lakeside community in the western Twin Cities suburbs — serving grades 8 through 12 with 895 students as part of the Westonka Public School District.

Westonka is one of the top-ranked high schools in Minnesota: it placed 10th out of 473 high schools in 2025–2026 (98th percentile, 5 stars), continuing a decade-long pattern of ranking in roughly the top 2–6% of the state after a brief dip in 2020–2021. The district itself ranks 5th of 458 districts statewide. Completion outcomes are strong, with a 97.6% graduation rate and a 1.1% dropout rate, well ahead of the state's 84.9% and 4.2%. The two nearby comprehensive high schools, Delano High School and Orono Senior High, edge slightly higher on completion (98.9%/0.5% and 98.2%/0.4%), but Westonka outranks both overall.

Academically, Westonka led Delano and Orono in 2025–2026 all-grade math (66.3%), reading (71.2%), and science (41.4%), and on every comparable grade-level test. Reading is a standout at 71.2%, versus 67.1% at Delano and 48.8% at Orono. End-of-Course science proficiency of 58.8% is well above Delano (45.4%), Orono (35.6%), and the state (35.0%), though 8th-grade science (26.9%) is still low in absolute terms. All of this comes while serving a higher free/reduced-lunch population (17.77%) than Delano (11.14%) or Orono (10.09%). Subgroup results are a major strength: male students rank 2nd of 395 schools statewide and low-income students 11th of 377, while special education students rose from the 21st percentile in 2023–2024 to the 92nd percentile in 2025–2026.
