Summary

Foley Intermediate Elementary, located at 840 Norman Ave N in the small central-Minnesota town of Foley, serves 781 students in grades 4 through 8 and is the only building in the Foley Public School District that provides those grades. In 2025-26 it ranked 142nd of 546 ranked Minnesota middle schools — the 74th percentile — and earned 4 stars.

The defining story is a long plateau that has recently stepped down. Across the ten years of rank history on file, the school has never earned fewer than 4 stars and never fallen below the 74th percentile; for six of the seven years from 2017-18 through 2023-24 it held steady between the 85th and 88th percentile. The last three years read 87, 77, and 74 — a 13-point slide in two years, and the lowest mark in the record. Parents should know that two of the three largest single-year drops line up exactly with changes in the state assessment series (MCA-III to MCA-IV), so part of the decline may reflect measurement rather than achievement. Its strongest measured dimension is how well it serves low-income students, at the 84th percentile statewide — above its own overall standing — while special education effectiveness is weakest, at the 45th percentile with 2 stars, down 27 points in two years. Fourth grade stands out (70.6 math, 66.7 reading); fifth grade is noticeably weaker.
