Summary

Wilson Elementary is a public elementary school located in Anoka, Minnesota, serving 569 students in grades K-5. It is part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District, which is ranked 165 out of 446 districts in the state.

One of Wilson Elementary's key strengths is its support for English Language Learner (ELL) students. The school has consistently ranked among the top 5% of Minnesota elementary schools in ELL student performance, earning a 5-star rating for the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, despite having a relatively high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds, Wilson Elementary has performed well compared to other Minnesota elementary schools with similar SES demographics, ranking in the top 30% for low-SES students in recent years. The school's smaller class sizes, with a student-teacher ratio ranging from 14.2 to 15.1 over the past three years, may contribute to its ability to provide more individualized attention and support for its diverse student population.

However, Wilson Elementary's overall academic performance, as measured by the percentage of students proficient or better on the MCA-III assessments, has been mixed in recent years. While the school's performance for its ELL and low-SES student populations is stronger than some nearby schools, such as Morris Bye Elementary and Ramsey Elementary, it has generally been below average compared to the Anoka-Hennepin School District and the state of Minnesota. The school's performance also varies significantly among different student subgroups, with female students outperforming male students and students with special education needs performing below average.
