As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote After seven years we removing our children from NOVA.  The school's new administration and school board have abandoned the school's original charter as a classical school.  Before sending your children to NOVA please ask for a tour and ask the administration and faculty questions.  Lots of questions.  Ask why in this year alone (2016) why 111 students or 12.4% of the students decided to leave NOVA as compared to 21 or 2.5% students who left NOVA in 2013. As of Feb 17th, 2016, there are another 18 requests for transcripts indicating parents preparing to move their children for next year.  Ask why the parents of 28 students entering NOVA's middle school this year (after sending their children to NOVA for seven years (K-6)) decided to leave NOVA.  Ask why 40% of NOVA's students entering NOVA's high school this year left for another high school.  Ask why there are 165 fewer applications this year when the number of applicants has always increased year-after-year from the inception of the school.  Ask if the school has or will adopt the Saint Paul School District's gender inclusion program allowing boys to share bathrooms with girls.  Ask if teachers will read the book My Princess Boy, Jacob's New Dress or any other book about boys wanting to be girls to children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Ask if the school will notify parents if teachers will be presenting gender confusing books to students and if the lower school principal will again send an email providing less than one business day before presenting the materials.  Ask if they will again not provide opt-out instructions to parents and if they will include language in their notification indicating NOVA is required by law when the law does not require children in K-5 to be presented with gender confusing materials. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
