Summary:

Osseo Public School District serves roughly 20,477 students across 28 schools — 16 elementary, 5 middle, and 7 high schools — in the Maple Grove, Brooklyn Park, and Brooklyn Center area. The district overall ranks 285th of 458 in Minnesota (38th percentile, 2 stars), but that single rating hides very different experiences from school to school.

Top performers include Maple Grove Senior High (120th of 473, 4 stars, a 94.1% graduation rate and 2.3% dropout rate), Weaver Lake Science Math & Technical School (114th of 869, 87th percentile, with the district's highest science score), Basswood Elementary (strongest elementary math at 70.3%), and Rush Creek Elementary and Fernbrook Elementary, both 4-star with low free/reduced lunch. Maple Grove Middle School and Osseo Middle School lead the middle schools. At the other end, Zanewood Community School STEAM, Edinbrook Elementary, Garden City Elementary, North View Middle School, and Park Center IB World School rank in the bottom quarter statewide.

Science is the district-wide weak spot — 20.1% versus the state's 25.5% — and middle-school science is especially low. Free/reduced lunch tracks closely with results, yet Weaver Lake and Cedar Island Elementary show that moderate poverty does not prevent strong outcomes. Student-teacher ratios do not predict achievement: Maple Grove Senior High has the highest ratio at 22.1 and the best high-school results. Several top schools have slipped from earlier peaks, while some lower-ranked schools are improving.
