Mayville Middle High School is a small, combined school serving grades 6–12 in the rural community of Mayville, MI, with 284 students and a majority of families qualifying for free or reduced lunch.

The most encouraging news for parents is that Mayville is showing a clear upward trend. After years of ranking in the bottom half of Michigan schools, the school jumped from the 21st percentile to the 48th percentile in the most recent school year—its best performance in nearly a decade. This improvement is especially notable in math. For example, 10th-grade math proficiency (34.1%) actually exceeded the state average (31.5%), and it was far ahead of nearby Vassar Senior High School (14.3%) and Caro High School (22%). The dropout rate is also high and has fluctuated sharply from year to year. There's also a noticeable "middle school squeeze": while 8th and 10th graders perform well on state tests—10th-grade English Language Arts (70.7%) beats the state average (58%)—11th-grade scores drop off dramatically.
