As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The worse experience ever. The teachers lie and cannot be trusted. Please do not take this lightly. Absolutely, no accountability at all. The principal is absent most of the time. She dictates and delegates conflict to her VP pawns. No leadership, they do what they want and their scores prove it. Just because it’s a new school further out in the suburbs does not make the teacher quality any better. If you have to choose a PGCPS, try your hardest in the lottery Close Quote

Open Quote The school overall all is good. The principal is in over her head. She lacks the leadership skills required to run a K-8th school of this magnitude. She is never around and does not make herself available to the students or their parents. She is not engaging at all. More importantly, her staff turnover rate is too high. (This includes teachers, counselors, and custodians.) Substitute teachers have become the norm. Lastly, no afterschool academic programs such as math or science clubs. These programs should be standard for a TAG school. I guess this is one of the reasons she may lose the TAG school status. What a shame. Close Quote

Open Quote I love Accokeek Academy. I have a child in the middle school upper campus building. Most of her teachers are outstanding. I do have a concern with one teacher that is inconsistent with grading. The only other concern that I have is with the office staff, particularly one secretary that is rude and ignores me when I walk in. The administration and guidance counselors are wonderful. I would highly recommend Accokeek Academy. And by the way the new building will be up soon and I can't wait. Close Quote

Open Quote My children are in the First Grade and Pre-K at Accokeek Academy. The teachers are very dedicated to the education of the students. My only complaint is the staff in the front office at the school. They are so rude and unprofessional. Sometimes, they do not acknowledge the parents and if they do, it is with much attitude!! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
