Lynnfield High is a four-year public high school serving grades 9–12 in Lynnfield, MA, a small suburban town about 15 miles north of Boston where 588 students attend — the second-smallest enrollment among the nearby high schools it is compared with. In 2025-26 the school ranked 90th of 353 Massachusetts high schools (75th percentile, 4 stars), noticeably lower than its own Lynnfield district, which ranks 39th of 351 districts statewide. It graduates almost everyone (98.6% in 2024-25) with a 0.7% dropout rate, spends $18,215 per student (2020-21), and has an 11.9:1 student-teacher ratio.

The biggest story for parents is a recent slide. Lynnfield High moved from the 92nd percentile in 2023-24 to 84th in 2024-25 to 75th in 2025-26 — the sharpest decline among its high-performing neighbors. North Reading High (87th percentile) and Melrose High (86th) barely moved, and Wakefield Memorial High improved. In 2025-26, 10th-grade ELA proficiency fell 18.9 points to 59.38 and science fell 21.8 points to 45.16, while math held up better at 62.66. North Reading High posts the best math and science results nearby, and Melrose High and Reading Memorial High get comparable results for roughly $3,700 less per student.

Strengths remain: near-perfect completion, low dropout, and steady results for low-income students (82nd percentile, 4 stars). The clearest red flag is special education students, which dropped from the 88th percentile in 2023-24 to 49th (2 stars) in 2025-26 — the most notable one-year change in the data and the most reasonable thing to ask about on a tour. Overall, this is a solidly above-average school that has slipped from its top tier rather than fallen out of it.
