Summary

KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is a K–12 charter school in Lynn, MA, serving 1,637 students as part of KIPP Academy Lynn Charter (District). Its standout strength is persistence: graduation was 97.6% in 2024–2025 and has stayed between 95.0% and 97.6% for five years, while dropout was 1.6% and has stayed consistently low. The student–teacher ratio has held steady at 13.8 since 2022–2023. Free/reduced-lunch data are blank/unknown, so no conclusions about poverty context can be drawn.

On the 2025–2026 MCAS Next Generation, KIPP's all-grade proficiency was below the state in all three major subjects: ELA 36.4% vs. 40.03%, Mathematics 33.07% vs. 41.11%, and Science 25.69% vs. 40.98%. Those all-grade figures hide large grade-level differences. KIPP beat the state in 10th-grade ELA (65.55% vs. 45.48%) and math (52.14% vs. 43.73%), and in 8th-grade ELA, math, and civics (53.17% vs. 39.77%). Elementary grades were weaker: 5th-grade math was 22.22% vs. 39.50% state, and 5th-grade science 19.05% vs. 43.07%. Science is the most consistent gap, trailing the state at every tested level, including Physics. Recently, all-grade ELA rose from 24.26% to 25.74% to 36.40%, and science rebounded from 17.81% to 25.69%.

Compared with nearby schools, KIPP sits in the middle of the charter group and well ahead of the small alternative programs. It trails Pioneer Charter School of Science, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, and Pioneer Charter School of Science II in nearly every all-grade academic measure, but outperforms Prospect Hill Academy Charter School and far outperforms Melvin H. King South End Academy, Peabody Personalized Remote Education Program (Peabody P.R.E), Devens School, and Horace Mann School for the Deaf Hard of Hearing in graduation, dropout, and proficiency. Per-student spending was $19,570 in 2020–2021, higher than Mystic Valley, Pioneer, and Pioneer II, but below Prospect Hill. Spending data are from 2020–2021, and several nearby schools have missing or suppressed test data, so comparisons have limits.
