Academically, PVPA is a tale of two grade bands. Its 10th-grade ELA (47.37) and science (41.46) are above the state averages, and 10th-grade math (38.89) is below the state’s 43.73 but above Granby Junior Senior High School, Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Chicopee High, and Holyoke High. The all-grade numbers are dragged down by middle school, especially 8th-grade math (18.46 vs. 41.67 statewide) and 8th-grade science (28.79 vs. 38.93). All-grade math is 23.88 versus 41.11 statewide. Compared with nearby schools, PVPA’s 10th-grade results trail Northampton High, Hampden Charter School of Science, and Easthampton High, but beat South Hadley High and the Chicopee and Holyoke schools in several areas.
