Summary:

Six schools in ZIP code 41015 serve 3,067 students: four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, with schools in both Kenton County and Covington Independent. The latest proficiency results are for 2025–2026. The clearest difference is among elementary schools: fourth-grade reading ranges from 77% at Ryland Heights Elementary School to 34% at Ninth District Elementary, a 43-point gap; fourth-grade math has a similarly wide 42-point gap.

Woodland Middle School and Taylor Mill Elementary School stand out for consistently beating state results: Woodland is above the state in all 10 reported tests, by an average of 15 points, and Taylor Mill is above the state in all 10 of its elementary results. Ryland leads several elementary subjects, including fourth-grade reading at 77% and fifth-grade writing at 60%, 25 points above the state. Ninth District is below the state on most reported tests. Latonia Elementary School is a relative bright spot against Ninth District, averaging 7 points higher across nine comparable tests. At the high school level, Scott High School is above the state in five of six tests and has a 97% graduation rate, though its 23% chronic absenteeism is close to the state’s 24%.

Recent changes are mixed rather than uniform: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the average school-to-state margin rose about 1 point across 53 matched results. Ninth District improved about 8 points on average, while Latonia and Taylor Mill each declined about 3 points. SchoolDigger’s 2025–2026 statewide rankings place Ryland at the 90th percentile, Woodland at the 87th and Taylor Mill at the 86th; Ninth District is at the 27th, Latonia at the 40th and Scott at the 70th.
