Summary:

Alexandria, Kentucky, has five schools—two elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools—with 3,855 students in all. Across the 36 reported school-grade-subject results in 2025–26, proficiency averaged 11 percentage points above the state. The clearest exception is writing: elementary writing results are below the state at both schools, so strong overall results do not mean every subject is equally strong.

John W. Reiley Elementary School leads the elementary schools on average, at 16 points above the state across its reported results, compared with 14 points above at Campbell Ridge Elementary. Reiley’s standout is fourth-grade science: 74% proficient, versus 56% at Campbell Ridge and 40% statewide. But both schools have a writing weakness: fifth-grade writing is 25% at Campbell Ridge and 34% at Reiley, compared with 35% statewide. Campbell County High School is above the state in all six reported subjects; Campbell County Middle School is more uneven, including seventh-grade reading and science results 4 and 2 points below the state. Reiley and Campbell Ridge also have lower chronic absenteeism—6% and 8%—than the statewide 24%. Alexandria Educational Center has the area’s highest reported absenteeism, 42%, but its test results are suppressed, so its achievement cannot be compared.

School results moved in different directions over time: the average state gap rose by 2 points at Campbell County High School, 1 at Campbell County Middle School and 3 at Campbell Ridge, while it fell by 4 at Reiley. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentiles improved from 2023–24 to 2025–26 at the high school (66th to 84th), middle school (52nd to 65th) and Campbell Ridge (75th to 82nd); Reiley was at the 83rd percentile in both years, after reaching the 90th in between. As context, 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 43% at Campbell Ridge and 45% at Reiley; their student-teacher ratios were 14.6 and 15.0. These figures describe the schools but do not explain their score differences.
