Summary

North Oldham Middle School serves 720 students in grades 6–8 in Goshen, in Oldham County. Its 2025–26 proficiency results were generally well above state averages, and above the average of nearby schools in every subject. The most important caution is a sharp eighth-grade decline: from the prior year, scores fell 15 points in reading, 20 in writing and 23 in editing and mechanics.

Mathematics is the school’s clearest comparative strength: its average was 68% proficient, versus 40% statewide, 60% in the district and 45% at nearby schools. Science also stood out at 48%, compared with 28% statewide, 41% in the district and 34% nearby. Seventh grade was especially strong: students scored 77% in both math and reading, the highest results among the 11 schools compared. Over four years, math improved by 4 points and science by 6, while writing fell 9 points, social studies 6 and editing and mechanics 19. Some state-score gaps narrowed as North Oldham’s results declined, so that narrowing is not itself evidence of improvement.
