Summary

Memorial Elementary School serves 335 students in prekindergarten through grade eight in Hardyville, in Hart County. Its results vary by grade: fifth-grade writing and math offer bright spots, but eighth-grade performance is the clearest concern. In 2025–26, only 9% of eighth graders were proficient in math, 19% in reading, 22% in social studies and 16% in editing and mechanics; among Hart County schools with reported scores, Memorial was lowest in all four subjects.

Memorial’s strengths are specific rather than consistent across subjects. Fifth-grade writing proficiency was 27%, 11 percentage points above the district’s 16%, though below the state’s 35%. My 3 children attend this school and out of Elizabethtown ISD, Larue Co schools, and Hart Co schools they like Memorial the best. I was concerned when moving to a smaller school that they would have a hard time making friends because smaller schools can be "cliquey", but this wasn't the case at all. The teachers are great at communicating issues pertaining to the kids and are reasonable with their expectations. There has been no bullying issues like we had experienced at Larue County. The kids all rave about the school lunches too, which is a blessing. I'm sad that this is my oldest child's last year at this school before starting high school. My only complaint is the selling of stuff to raise money. I hate this practice. We live in a pretty isolated area with our neighbors being about a 1/2 mile away and I have no family in the state. I would rather give the school $20 bucks every so often and not have to worry about going door to door selling overpriced wrapping paper and kitchen gadgets. That's the only reason I gave this school 4 stars instead of 5. Close Quote
