T C Cherry Elementary School in Bowling Green, Kentucky, serves prekindergarten through grade 5 and enrolls 431 students, with several other elementary schools nearby. The clearest concern is that proficiency generally trails state and nearby-school averages in math, reading and science. Third-grade reading is a particular weakness: 23% of Cherry students were proficient, compared with 39% in the district and 49% statewide, and this was the lowest score among the 10 nearby schools.

Editing and Mechanics is Cherry’s strongest result: 61% of fifth graders were proficient, versus 48% statewide, 47% in the district and a 42% nearby-school average.
