Summary:

ZIP code 67352 has three schools serving overlapping grades from prekindergarten through grade 12: Rocket Online Schools (ROCS) serves K–12, Elk Valley Elementary serves PK–5, and Elk Valley High School serves grades 6–12. ROCS accounts for about 94% of the three schools’ 1,966 reported students. All Grades results are a broad snapshot, not a like-for-like comparison, because the schools serve different grades and ROCS is an online alternative school. Overall, the schools’ average results were below state levels in all three subjects, with science the closest: 23% in science, 24% in ELA, and 15% in math, versus state results of 38%, 46%, and 41%.

Elk Valley Elementary stands out in ELA and science, leading with 37% and 43%; its science score was 5 percentage points above the state, the only school result above the state in any subject. Elk Valley High School leads math at 24%, compared with 15% at Elementary and 5% at ROCS, but has the lowest ELA and science results, at 12% and 10%. The gaps between the highest and lowest school results are 25 points in ELA, 19 in math, and 33 in science. In the more direct fifth-grade comparison, Elementary also leads ROCS in all three subjects, most notably science: 43% versus 21%; both schools are below state fifth-grade results in every subject.

Recent changes are mixed at Elementary and sharply negative at High School. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, Elementary’s ELA rose 7 percentage points, while math fell 7 points; High School fell 21 points in ELA, 3 in math, and 40 in science. SchoolDigger’s reported High School ranking rose from the 7th percentile in 2010–11 to the 74th in 2023–24, though its latest scores are below state results in all three subjects; Elementary’s ranking fell from the 34th percentile in 2020–21 to the 15th in 2025–26. High School also reports 40% chronic absenteeism, compared with 17.6% at Elementary and 17.8% statewide. Reported student-teacher ratios are 13.3 at Elementary, 7.8 at High School, and 349.2 at ROCS, whose much larger enrollment and online model make it unlike the two small in-person schools.
