Sedan, Kansas, has two listed public schools serving grades PK–12: Sedan Elementary (PK–5, 178 students) and Sedan High (grades 6–12, 182 students). The clearest difference is in reported achievement: in 2025–2026, Elementary was above Kansas in all three all-grades subjects, while High was below the state in all three.
Sedan Elementary stands out at the top of the two-school comparison, with 65% proficient in ELA, 62% in math, and 44% in science, compared with 38%, 30%, and 31% at Sedan High. The schools’ gaps were 26 percentage points in ELA, 33 in math, and 14 in science. Elementary exceeded state results by 19 points in ELA, 21 in math, and 6 in science; High fell short by 7, 11, and 7 points, respectively.
