Anderson County Junior/Senior High School up 63 spots statewide this year
Summary:

Garnett-area schools include four schools serving different grade spans: Garnett Elementary School and Greeley Elementary serve prekindergarten through grade 6, Westphalia serves kindergarten through grade 8, and Anderson County Junior/Senior High School serves grades 7–12. The clearest overall finding is that results vary considerably by school and subject: school results span 13 to 16 percentage points across subjects, and area averages are below state results in ELA and math but above state in science.

Westphalia leads all-grades ELA at 50%, 10 points above the other schools’ average and 4 points above the state, but has the area’s lowest math result at 26%. Greeley Elementary leads math at 42%, 9 points above the other schools’ average and 1 point above the state. Garnett Elementary School leads science at 50%, 12 points above both the other reporting schools’ average and the state. At the other end, Anderson County Junior/Senior High School has the lowest ELA result, 35%—11 points below the other schools’ average and 11 below the state—and the lowest reported science result, 37%. Grade-level results also reveal sharp contrasts at Garnett: 5th-grade math is 59%, 14 points above state, while 4th-grade math is 25%, 20 points below.

Recent changes are mixed: the average ELA result rose 2 points from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while math fell 3 points and science fell 6; state math rose 2 points over the same period, so the area’s math gap widened. Individual results differ: Westphalia’s ELA rose 13 points while its math fell 5, and Greeley Elementary’s ELA and math each fell 6. SchoolDigger currently ranks Anderson County Junior/Senior High School 121st of 340 schools (64th percentile, three stars) and Garnett Elementary School 377th of 657 (43rd percentile, two stars); it has no current rankings for the other two. The smaller schools, Greeley and Westphalia, have 52 and 53 students, student-teacher ratios of 7.4 and 9.2, and free/reduced-lunch rates of 75% and 53%, respectively. These all-grades comparisons reflect schools serving different grade spans.
