Cunningham High and Cunningham Elementary are the two schools in Cunningham, serving grades 6–12 and PK–5, respectively. In 2025–26, both schools were above the state in all-grades math and science: high school results were 48% in math and 55% in science, while elementary results were 60% and 58%, compared with state results of 41% and 38%. ELA shows a clearer difference: the elementary school scored 63%, while the high school scored 46%, essentially level with the state’s 46%. The most important overall finding is that the elementary school led in all three subjects, while the high school’s strongest relative result was science.

Cunningham Elementary is the all-subjects standout compared with the state, with results 17 percentage points higher in ELA, 19 points higher in math and 20 points higher in science. Cunningham High was 7 points above the state in math and 17 points above in science, though its ELA result was just below the state. SchoolDigger ranks the high school 15th of 340 Kansas schools (96th percentile; 5 stars) and the elementary school 161st of 657 (75th percentile; 4 stars). The high school also reported a 100% graduation rate, compared with 90% statewide. Grade-level results add important contrasts: elementary 3rd-grade ELA was 87%, 35 points above its state comparison, while 5th-grade ELA was 42%, 9 points below. At the high school, 10th-grade math was 67%, 30 points above the state, while 6th-grade math was 27%, 15 points below.

Recent changes are mixed by school. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, elementary ELA rose 9 points and math rose 14, while high-school ELA fell 4 points and math fell 1; high-school science rose 17 points, even as elementary science dipped 2. Both schools have similar enrollment—109 at the elementary school and 117 at the high school—and free/reduced-lunch rates, at 39% and 38%. Student-teacher ratios are 10.3 at the elementary school and 9.5 at the high school. Attendance differs: chronic absenteeism was 19% at the elementary school and 8% at the high school, versus 18% statewide. Grade-level percentages can fluctuate with small enrollments, so families may want to consider them alongside the broader results.
