Skyline Schools

Skyline Schools has two schools serving PK–8 and grades 9–12 in an area where both schools’ 2025–26 all-grades proficiency rates are above state rates in ELA, math, and science. The overall picture is positive, but results differ by school and subject: the strongest advantage is at Skyline High in math, while Skyline Elementary is slightly ahead in science. The most important takeaway is that both schools outperform state rates overall, but the size of that advantage—and the grade-level results—varies substantially.

Skyline High stands out in ELA and math: 69% and 81% of students are proficient, compared with 52% and 49% at Skyline Elementary. High’s state advantages are 23 points in ELA and 40 in math; Elementary is about 1 point ahead of High in science, with both schools roughly 9–11 points above the state. Elementary’s grade-level results are more uneven: third-grade ELA is 18 points above its state comparison, while fourth-grade ELA is 8 points below; seventh-grade math is also 8 points below. SchoolDigger ranks High 13th of 340 Kansas high schools (96th percentile, 5 stars) and Elementary 247th of 657 (62nd percentile, 3 stars).

Recent results improved most at High: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, its ELA rose 23 points and math rose 18, widening its state-relative advantages. Elementary’s ELA advantage also grew, but its science rate fell 13 points and its advantage narrowed by 9. SchoolDigger’s percentile ranking for Elementary declined from 74 to 62 over three years, while High’s moved from 98 to 87 and then rebounded to 96. High also reports higher chronic absenteeism—25%, versus 18% statewide—and an 85% graduation rate, below the state’s 90%. Enrollment, student–teacher ratios, and lunch eligibility differ too: Elementary has 218 students, a 10.8 ratio, and 59% free/reduced-lunch eligibility; High has 91 students, a 9.0 ratio, and 37% eligibility. These are contextual differences, not explanations for school results.
