Summary:

Gardner has 10 schools—six elementary, three middle and one high school—serving students from elementary through high school. The biggest difference is by school level: all three middle schools were above state results in ELA, math and science, while Gardner Edgerton High was below the state in ELA and science and close in math.

Pioneer Ridge Middle School stood out in middle-school math and science, with 52% in math and 63% in science—11 and 25 percentage points above the state, respectively. Wheatridge Middle School led middle-school ELA at 49%, while Sunflower Elementary led elementary ELA at 58% and Gardner Elementary led elementary math at 58%. At the lower end, Grand Star Elementary had the lowest elementary ELA result at 45%, 1 point below the state; Madison Elementary had the lowest elementary math result at 39%, 2 points below. Trail Ridge Middle School was lowest among middle schools in each subject, but still exceeded state results. At the high school, ELA was 39% and science 27%, respectively 7 and 11 points below state results.

Middle-school averages improved from 2024–25 to 2025–26 in all three subjects—by 4 percentage points in ELA, 4 in math and 6 in science—and gained relative to the state. Elementary results were mixed: average ELA fell by 1 point while math rose by 4. Moonlight Elementary School rose 12 points in ELA and 17 in math, while Nike Elementary fell 12 and 5 points, respectively. SchoolDigger rankings also moved in opposite directions: Moonlight rose from the 25th to the 62nd percentile, while Nike fell from the 84th to the 51st. Context measures do not neatly predict results: reported free/reduced-lunch rates ranged from 30% at Sunflower to 58% at Moonlight, and student–teacher ratios ranged from 10.4 at Grand Star to 15.2 at the high school. The high school’s 94% graduation rate was above the state’s 90%, offering a more favorable counterpoint to its test results.
