Open Quote Warren Central High School offers an extremely wide variety of programs for its students ranging from a widely recognized state champion football team, to a versatile performing arts center. Academically, the school offers several Advanced Placement courses in areas such as Foreign Languages, English Language, Mathematics, Science, and Music, and offers accelerated courses for students who find regular classes too easy. The school also hosts an exceptional speech and debate team that has remained the AAA state champion for six years in a row as of 2011. The team has also claimed the Overall State Champion title four times since 2006. The Warren Performing Arts Center is home to a marching band, orchestra, several choirs, and a theater arts division. The school's theater arts division is well known for putting on very high quality performances through its students, and also for hosting community events such as world dance competitions and championships, concerts, award ceremonies, and citywide and state competitions. The school's winter guard has competed in the world championships on two different occasions since 2007, in which it claimed 4th place. The school holds several state champion titles in football, cross country, track and field, speech and debate, theater arts, wrestling, robotics, and several other programs. The school also offers school to work opportunities, in which students are trained to go into the workforce or pursue higher education after high school in areas such as dentistry, automotive repair, architectural design, construction, engineering, cosmetology, culinary arts, education, health care, and computer technology. Several homes around the school have been constructed and designed solely by students, and the Threshold restaurant is also run almost exclusively by students through the Walker Career Center. The Walker Career Center also offers reduced price automotive repair and maintenance to the public, through which students are trained by teachers to repair and maintain vehicles. Also, the cosmetology department of the Career Center is open to the public. Warren Central High School remains one most highly regarded schools in Indianapolis, and strives to better itself through the introduction and enhancement of its programs, and further enhancement of its educational standards. About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
