Hoosier College and Career Academy is a public high school at 5650 Caito Drive in Indianapolis, Indiana, serving about 1,484 students in grades 7–12 and making up its own single-school Hoosier College and Career Academy district, so school and district numbers mirror each other. It is larger than most nearby charter and alternative schools but smaller than the two MSD Lawrence Township high schools. Its state ranking is consistently low: 371st of 415 Indiana high schools in 2025–26 (11th percentile, 1 star), with a listed district rank of 354th of 374 (5th percentile, 0 stars). Recent years have ranged from the 8th to the 16th percentile.

The school's clearest strength is attendance. Its 20.3% chronic absenteeism rate in 2024–25 was better than every nearby school with data, including Lawrence North High School (21.4%), Lawrence Central High School (28.9%) and Charles A Tindley Accelerated School (29.7%), though it is still above the state's 16.7%. Graduation rose from 27.9% in 2020–21 to 66.0% in 2024–25, but remains about 24 points below the state and behind Tindley and both Lawrence high schools. Those gains have not reached test scores: in 2025–26, SAT Math proficiency was 2.08% and ILEARN Math 6.23% across all grades, with 7th and 8th grade ILEARN also far below state averages. The school spends $10,503 per student (2023–24), less than every nearby school with spending data, and has a student-teacher ratio of 26.

Among nearby charters, results are mixed: Hoosier is above James and Rosemary Phalen Leadership Academy High School and sometimes Rooted School Indianapolis, including in Biology EOC (21.93%) and SAT Math, but below Tindley on most academic measures and below the Lawrence Township high schools on nearly everything. About half its students (50.67%) receive free or reduced lunch, a lower share than most nearby charters. Bottom line: attendance and graduation are genuinely improving, but proficiency — especially in math — remains very low, keeping the school near the bottom statewide.
