Open Quote I am affiliated with Monrovia Elementary and it pains me to say that we have become a very marginal school. Just within the past few years teachers have lost the passion and joy that was once the pride of the community and because of this the students have suffered. The way the school is set-up is that the kids are placed in a three teacher cluster where they have a homeroom but switch between the three teacher to learn different subjects. We are the only school in the state that does this program and obviously there is a reason for that. I am an advocate for change but this has been a complete failure and the majority of the teachers would agree...but what do we know. There are many teachers that have left, retired early, and that are presently looking to leave not only the school but to change careers altogether. I wish things were different but it doesn't look like the present administration has any plans to change its ways nor do they care. I love this community but if you are one of the few that are serious about your child's education than you may want to look at a neighboring school system. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
