MSD Martinsville Schools is an Indiana district serving about 3,998 students across 10 schools — seven elementary, two middle/intermediate, and one high school — covering grades PK through 12. Martinsville High School is the largest campus with 1,284 students, while Centerton Elementary School is the smallest at 126. The district ranks 199th of 374 in Indiana (47th percentile, 2 stars), placing it mid-pack statewide — but school-level results vary far more than that average suggests.

Green Township Elementary School is the standout: the only 4-star school here, at the 79th percentile and consistently strong over three years. Its proficiency far outpaces the district — ELA 55.32% vs 30.79%, math 65.96% vs 38.73%, science 48.28% vs 43.69%. Centerton Elementary School was elite (99th percentile, 5 stars in 2023–2024) but fell to 58th percentile and 3 stars in 2025–2026, with science dropping from 88% to 34.38%. Brooklyn STEM Academy (51st percentile, 3 stars) is above district in all three core subjects. Martinsville High School is mixed: a 92.2% graduation rate beats the state's 89.7%, but SAT math is 20.33% vs the state's 25.6%, and chronic absenteeism is 27.8%.

At the other end, South Elementary School of Communications and Poston Road Elementary School both sit at the 28th percentile with 1 star; South's science is 26.32% against the district's 43.69%, and Poston Road has the highest free/reduced lunch rate at 70.46%. John R. Wooden Middle School is declining (61st to 40th percentile, 3 stars to 2). Absenteeism concentrates at the secondary level: all seven elementaries are below the state's 16.7%, but the high school (27.8%) and Wooden Middle (21.0%) are above it. Poverty relates to performance but does not fully explain it — Charles L Smith Fine Arts Academy beats the district in math and science despite a 58.13% free/reduced lunch rate, and spending and class size show no simple relationship with results.
