South Side Elementary School is a PK–5 elementary school in Kendallville, Indiana, serving 300 students as part of East Noble School Corporation. For 2025–26 it ranked 728th of 1,015 Indiana elementary schools (28th percentile, 1 star), placing it below its own district (43rd percentile, 2 stars) and in the bottom third of the state's elementary schools. That standing is not new: since 2015–16 the school has mostly landed between the 15th and 33rd percentile, and its best recent year, 2023–24 at the 33rd percentile, was followed by a return to the 28th percentile in both 2024–25 and 2025–26.

English language arts is the clearest weakness. All-grade ELA proficiency is 21.9, more than 10 points below the district's 32.71 and far below Indiana grade-level benchmarks of roughly 40–42. Among East Noble peers, South Side has the lowest rank and lowest ELA of the group. Avilla Elementary School spends less with larger classes yet scores much higher, and Wayne Center Elementary School and North Side Elementary School also outperform it.
