The school is part of the SE Neighborhood School of Excellence District, which is ranked 321 out of 380 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite higher spending per student, SE Neighborhood School of Excellence is significantly underperforming compared to nearby schools. The school has consistently low proficiency rates on state assessments, with only 18.42% of students proficient in English Language Arts and 19.21% proficient in Math, compared to state averages of 40.3% and 51.5% respectively. Additionally, the school has very high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 17.8% to 34.1% over the past few years, which is much higher than the state average and most nearby schools. While the school's student-teacher ratio is lower than many nearby schools, this has not translated to improved academic outcomes. The leadership and district should closely examine the factors contributing to the school's poor performance and develop a comprehensive plan to address these challenges. Nearby schools like Emma Donnan Elementary and Middle, Washington Irving Neighborhood School, and Bethel Park Elementary | pilotED Schools appear to be performing significantly better and may offer insights for improvement.

Open Quote A lot of this info is outdated. The school is growing (I believe almost 600 students now) as more and more parents realize that it's a supporting and caring school. My kids love it and I do as well! Close Quote
