Summary:

The MSD Southwest Allen County Schls district in suburban Fort Wayne serves about 7,502 students across 10 schools — six elementary (K-5 or PK-5), two middle (6-8), and two high schools, one of which is a virtual school covering grades 6-12. The district ranks 32nd of 374 Indiana districts, in the 91st percentile with a 5-star rating, and every school except the virtual option sits well above the state average on most measures.

A few schools stand out. Aboite Elementary School is the district's strongest: 2nd of 1,015 elementary schools, 100th percentile, 5 stars, with 2025-26 proficiency of 82.58% in ELA, 90.11% in math, 83.33% in science, and 81.63% in 5th grade social studies, plus 0.0% chronic absenteeism. Haverhill Elementary School ranks 34th of 1,015 (97th percentile, 5 stars) even though its free/reduced lunch rate of 28.79% is above the district average. Homestead High School ranks 7th of 415 high schools with a 96.3% graduation rate, 74.64% SAT EBRW, 47.3% SAT Math, and 78.39% in Biology. Summit Middle School (33rd of 486) and Woodside Middle School (54th) are both strong, as are Lafayette Meadow School (78th) and Deer Ridge Elementary (92nd). Covington Elementary School (339th) and Whispering Meadow Elementary School (313th) trail the other elementaries in proficiency, though both have improved their ranks.

eSACS Virtual School is not directly comparable to the traditional schools: 91 students, a 4.3 student-teacher ratio, the lowest spending at $6,610 per student, a 68.0% graduation rate, 10.71% SAT Math, and several test cells that are not provided. Chronic absenteeism is a district-wide strength — 0.7% versus 16.7% statewide — with Summit's 4.2% the local high but still far below the state. Spending does not track closely with performance: Whispering Meadow spends the most at $11,457 yet scores below the district average, while Woodside spends the least among traditional schools at $9,989. Most schools improved in rank over the past three years; eSACS is the clear exception.
