ZIP code 60629 has 15 elementary schools, all in Chicago Public Schools District 299, serving grade spans from PK–4 or PK–5 through PK–8. In 2025–26, the schools’ average proficiency was 44% in ELA and 30% in math, compared with statewide rates of 56% and 40%. The most important finding is how uneven results are: all-grades ELA ranged from 20% at McKay Elementary School to 80% at Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz.
Sor Juana was the clearest all-around standout, leading in ELA at 80% and math at 68%; both were well above state rates, and it also led reported science results with 69% in grade 5 and 67% in grade 8.
