Summary

McKay Elementary School is a PK–8 school with 616 students in Chicago’s Englewood area, part of Chicago Public Schools District 299. In 2025–2026, chronic absenteeism was 53%, compared with 39% in the district and 24% statewide; it was the second-highest rate among nearby schools reporting results. The central concern is that students’ proficiency results remain far below district and state levels, with ELA especially weak compared with nearby schools.
