Summary:
ZIP code 60188 has nine schools: seven elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. In 2025–2026, the seven elementary schools averaged 60% proficient in ELA and 50% in math, compared with state results of 56% and 40%, respectively. Those averages hide sizable differences from school to school, so the most important finding is that the ZIP’s above-state averages do not describe every school equally well.
Spring Trail Elementary School led elementary All Grades ELA at 71%, while Carol Stream Elementary School was lowest at 44%, a 27-point gap. In math, Evergreen Elementary School led at 59%, compared with 37% at Western Trails Elementary School, a 23-point difference. Grade-level results bring other schools forward: Roy De Shane Elementary School had 82% proficient in grade 4 ELA, and Cloverdale Elementary School had 68% in grade 3 math. At Jay Stream Middle School, ELA was 62% versus 56% statewide, but math was 30% versus 40%. Glenbard North High School exceeded state results in ACT math and science, while its ELA was slightly below.
Elementary results improved in ELA but slipped in math: the group average rose 3 points from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 in ELA, while the state rose 3 points; math fell 2 points as the state gained 1. The ELA advantage over the state narrowed from 5 points to 4, and the math advantage from 13 to 10. SchoolDigger’s rank-history percentile also declined for Spring Trail, from 83 to 72, and Jay Stream, from 69 to 43; those measures compare schools across different numbers of schools from year to year. For context, the 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 40% at Spring Trail and 49% at Roy De Shane, both with strong results, and 61% at Carol Stream, which had the lowest elementary All Grades results; these figures describe context, not a cause. Student–teacher ratios also do not sort neatly with results: Spring Trail’s was 18.9, while Roy De Shane’s was 6.8.
