Adlai Stevenson Elementary School serves 513 students in kindergarten through sixth grade in Elk Grove Village, in Schaumburg CCSD 54. Its 2025–2026 results show academic challenges alongside a notable attendance concern: chronic absenteeism was 29%, above the district’s 18% and the state’s 24%, and higher than at every nearby school. That makes chronic absenteeism the school’s most striking concern.

Math is above the state average, but the local comparisons are less favorable: 42% of students were proficient, 3 percentage points above the state, but 13 points below the district and 16 below the average at the three nearby schools in the same district. ELA proficiency was 55%, 1 point below the state and 13 below those local peers’ average. Science is the clearest academic weakness: fifth-grade proficiency was 37%, 11 points below the state and 20 below the district; it was also 26 points below the same-district peers’ average and the lowest reported result among nearby schools. Stevenson had the lowest ELA and math results among those same-district schools in grades 4–6 as well.

Scores have improved over three years but dipped in the latest year: ELA rose from 44% in 2023–2024 to 59% in 2024–2025, then fell to 55%; math rose from 33% to 45%, then fell to 42%. SchoolDigger placed Stevenson at the 44th percentile with two stars in 2025–2026, down 20 percentile points from the previous year; seven of nine nearby schools with reported percentiles ranked higher. Its student-teacher ratio was a relatively low 10.1 in 2024–2025, but that did not coincide with stronger local test results. Stevenson reported 29% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2021–2022, the highest rate among four nearby schools with the same measure and year. SchoolDigger’s subgroup rankings also show notable differences: Hispanic Students ranked at the 26th percentile in 2024–2025, compared with 64 overall, while English Language Learner Students’ percentile rose from 6 in 2022–2023 to 49 in 2024–2025.
