Summary

Thomas Jefferson Elementary School is a public elementary school in Joliet, Illinois, serving 613 students in grades K-5 as part of the Plainfield School District 202.

While the school has consistently performed below the district and state averages in English Language Arts and Mathematics proficiency, it has shown strong performance for its African American student population, ranking in the top 25% of Illinois elementary schools for this subgroup. However, the school's Hispanic and White student populations, as well as its English Language Learner and Special Education students, have struggled, performing below state averages. The school's high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 17% to 26.3%, may be contributing to its lower academic outcomes.

Open Quote I absolutely hate them!! We had a bullying incident with my daughter that NEVER got addressed!! I would constantly be at the school making complaints and asking to speak to the principal and they would just take messages down. My daughters shoe was flushed down the toilet by another girl that kept bullying her and I will report this to the school board of education!! Completely disrespectful staff! Would not recommend this school. Her grades are completely dropping because all of this is effecting her. Close Quote
