Greenville Elementary School

Summary:

Greenville Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 531 students in grades PK-5 in Greenville, Illinois, which is part of the Bond County CUSD 2 district. The school has shown consistent academic performance, with 3-star ratings from SchoolDigger, and its students have outperformed state averages in several grade levels, particularly in 5th grade English Language Arts.

Despite having a relatively high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, Greenville Elementary School's low-income students have performed well, ranking 250 out of 1,808 Illinois elementary schools in this subgroup. However, the school has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 1.1% in 2018-2019 to 20.3% in 2022-2023, which is an area of concern. Interestingly, while Pocahontas Center, another school in the district, has outperformed Greenville Elementary in some academic areas, Greenville Elementary has a higher overall ranking and rating from SchoolDigger.

Greenville Elementary School has shown particular strengths in supporting its female and low-socioeconomic status student subgroups, ranking in the top 25% and top 15% of Illinois elementary schools, respectively, in 2022-2023. However, the school's special education and disabled student subgroups have struggled, ranking in the middle to lower half of Illinois elementary schools. The school's increased per-student spending, from $9,741 in 2019-2020 to $13,181 in 2022-2023, may have contributed to its academic performance, particularly among its low-income students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote When school personnel assume family titles (such as mom, dad, grandpa, “grandma”, and so on), it may seem harmless. I overlooked the harm at first. After thought, I realized how dangerous it could be for some children!
When school personnel make the mistake of assuming family titles, they should have to abide by a remedy outlined in a district policy.
The remedy should encourage parents and educators alike to refresh and/or teach children for the first time stranger danger safety rules!
For example: Children should be taught to scream (This is not my daddy! This is not my mommy!) if they are ever grabbed by a stranger! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
