Benjamin Franklin Elementary School consistently ranks among the top 10-15% of elementary schools in Illinois, with strong academic performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, often exceeding 70% proficiency across all grades. The school's 5th-grade performance on the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) is also impressive, with a 70.9% proficiency rate in 2024-2025, compared to the state average of 40.6%. The school's per-student spending of around $15,000 to $16,000 is higher than the state average, which may contribute to its strong academic outcomes.

While Benjamin Franklin Elementary School excels in the performance of many student subgroups, the relatively lower performance of Hispanic students and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds is an area the school and district may want to focus on to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. Nearby schools within the Glen Ellyn School District 41, such as Churchill Elementary School, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, and Forest Glen Elementary School, also perform well academically, but Benjamin Franklin Elementary School consistently outperforms them in both ELA and Mathematics proficiency rates, as well as in overall state rankings.

Open Quote I would recommend against this school and this school district. They claim they don't have enough time to attend to the children's needs. Additionally, they don't respond in a reasonable amount of time.

The school secretaries know more about what's going on than the principal and the assistant principal is a bully.

The district administration doesn't stand up for children either. Close Quote
