As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Emmons was found not to be compliant by the State Board of Education on many issues related to students with 504 plans and/or with disabilities. The administration including the school board were negligent and not properly trained on children with special needs. Also, when parents asked for an additional teacher to lower the student to teacher ratio, they were denied due to budget restraints. However, the school found money to redo the office furnishings and hire many additional administrative roles. Close Quote

Open Quote Emmons is a small school with big problems. Teachers are not teaching and while they hold the students to a certain standard, certain teachers are able to do as they please with total disregard to the school policies and / or when following the curriculum. The best thing about Emmons school is that it is small and k-8, but even with the average class size being 15 kids do not expect excellence from certain teachers who can still not handle this class size. Testing are over emphasized and learning is put on the back burner. If your child is special needs or requires an IEP or 504 this is not the place to be. There is no one on staff who can effectively handle the requests or has complete knowledge of the rights of students in regards to any type of disability. There is distrust among the community and the administrators of the school. The school board has few individuals who care about the well being of the school and students. The school really needs to be reviewed at a state level and people need to be put into positions who have the well being of the students as priority. Bullying is rampant and discipline is minimal. Be prepared to defend your student at every corner and to not receive help from the school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
