Summary:
Palatine CCSD 15 includes 18 schools—13 elementary schools serving prekindergarten through grade 5 and five middle schools serving grades 6–8—in the Palatine area. In 2025–26, the schools averaged about 60% proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and 44% in math, compared with state figures of 56% and 40%. The averages were above state results, but performance varied widely: all-grades scores spanned 42 points in ELA and 49 points in math, with the lowest-scoring schools below the state in both subjects. The most important finding for families is that district averages conceal sharply different results from school to school.
Thomas Jefferson Middle School led all schools in ELA at 83%, while Marion Jordan Elementary School led in math at 71%; Marion Jordan also led elementary schools in ELA at 80%. At the middle-school level, Thomas Jefferson had the strongest math result, 63%. At the other end, Lake Louise Elementary School had the lowest ELA result at 41%, and Carl Sandburg Middle School the lowest math result at 22%. For a same-grade comparison, fifth-grade Science ranged from 80% at Central Road Elementary School to 35% at Lake Louise.
ELA improved more clearly than math: among 17 schools with results in both years, average ELA rose about 6 points from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while the state gained about 3 points; math was essentially flat as the state improved about 1 point. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rankings also show different trajectories: Central Road rose from the 65th to the 89th percentile, while Walter R. Sundling Middle School fell from the 72nd to the 25th, despite a 13-point ELA increase over two years. The 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible figures offer context, not an explanation: Willow Bend Elementary School had 50% eligible and results above state in both subjects, while Lake Louise had 54% eligible and lower results. These comparisons reflect the 17 schools with year-to-year ELA and math results.
