Summary:
Five elementary schools in Grayslake CCSD 46 serve kindergarten through grade 4. In 2025–2026, the schools’ average proficiency was about 66% in English language arts (ELA) and 53% in math, compared with state results of about 56% and 40%. Four of the five schools scored above the state in both subjects; Avon Center Elementary School was the exception, below the state by about 10 points in ELA and 5 points in math.
Park East School led both all-grades subjects, with 73.9% proficient in ELA and 63% in math. Prairieview School was nearly tied in ELA at 73.7% and led grade 4 ELA at 77.5%; Park East led grade 3 ELA at 77.8%. Avon Center had the lowest all-grades results, at 47% in ELA and 35% in math. Grade-level results also reveal a sharp math split at Woodview School: 70% proficient in grade 3 versus 38% in grade 4, a 32-point gap.
Most schools’ results rose over the two years reported, but Meadowview School’s math proficiency fell about 10 points, from 66% to 56%; it remains above the state result. SchoolDigger’s average percentile ranking for the five schools fell from 79 in 2023–2024 to 65 in 2025–2026, even as most schools improved in at least one subject. Income and attendance measures offer context, not explanations: all schools report free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025, ranging from 54% at Avon Center to 19% at Meadowview. Avon Center also had the highest chronic absenteeism, 29%, while Meadowview had the lowest, 14%. Student-teacher ratios ranged from 12.0 at Avon Center to 17.1 at Woodview, so these characteristics do not by themselves identify a school’s academic results.
