Summary:
The five schools in Evergreen Park Education Service District 124 serve preschool and kindergarten through eighth grade, enrolling 1,735 students across four elementary schools and one middle school. In 2025–2026, the five-school averages were 58% in English language arts (ELA) and 44% in math, compared with state results of 56% and 40%. The most important finding is how much results vary between schools, especially in math: the gap between the highest and lowest all-grades results was 39 percentage points.
Southwest Elementary led in both all-grades subjects, with 66% in ELA and 65% in math. Its results were 10 and 25 percentage points above the state, respectively. At the other end, Central Middle had the lowest ELA result at 52%, while Northeast Elementary had the lowest math result at 26%; those results were 5 and 14 points below the state. Southeast Elementary stood out in fifth-grade science, leading the elementary schools at 58%, while Southwest was lowest at 43%.
Recent changes are mixed: the five-school ELA average rose 5 points from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while the math average was unchanged; state results rose 3 points in ELA and 1 in math. Southeast had the largest ELA gain, up 18 points, and SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking percentile rose from 41 to 64. Northwest School had the largest math decline, down 10 points. School size and reported student-teacher ratios do not show a simple pattern with results: elementary enrollment ranges from 242 to 329, and ratios from 9.9:1 to 13.3:1. All schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025; Southwest was at 18%, compared with 47%–53% at the other four schools. These figures provide context, not an explanation for test results.
