Summary:
The four elementary schools in Evergreen Park Education Service District 124 serve 242 to 329 students each; three offer prekindergarten through grade 5, while Southeast Elementary School serves kindergarten through grade 5. In 2025–2026, the schools’ unweighted averages were 60% proficient in all-grades ELA and 47% in math, compared with state results of 56% and 40%. The clearest difference for families is in math: results range from 26% at Northeast Elementary School to 65% at Southwest Elementary School, a 39-point spread.
Southwest leads in all-grades math and narrowly leads ELA: its ELA result was 66.4%, compared with 65.6% at Southeast. Southwest’s 65% math result is 15 points above the next-highest school, Southeast, at 50%. Southeast stands out in fifth-grade science, leading with 58%, while Southwest scored 43%. Northeast is at the bottom in all-grades ELA (53%) and math (26%); its fifth-grade math result is suppressed by the state and cannot be compared. Northwest School falls between the leaders and Northeast, with 54% in ELA and 48% in math.
Recent changes offer a different view of the schools: Southeast improved in all three year-to-year comparisons, gaining 18 points in ELA, 7 in math and 26 in fifth-grade science. Southwest’s math rose 5 points, but its ELA fell 8 points and science fell 16. SchoolDigger’s rank percentile for Southeast rose from 41 in 2023–2024 to 64 in 2025–2026; Southwest’s moved from 78 to 84, then down to 68. All four schools report free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025: 18% at Southwest versus 48% at Northwest, 50% at Southeast and 53% at Northeast. These are school-level observations, not explanations for differences in results.
