Ashton Elementary School is a small, rural school in Ashton, Idaho, serving 228 students in grades PK through 5 as part of the Fremont County Joint District. The school has experienced a significant decline in recent years, dropping from a consistent 4-star rating in the 75th-76th percentile during 2022-2024 to a 1-star rating in the 27th percentile for 2025-2026. Once ranked among the top elementary schools in the region—hitting the 89th percentile as recently as 2017-2018—Ashton now finds itself in the middle-to-lower tier of Idaho elementary schools.

The most urgent priorities for the school community are clear: reducing chronic absenteeism, supporting families facing economic challenges, and stabilizing early-elementary instruction, particularly in 3rd grade, where both math and ELA proficiency have fallen well below state averages.
