Summary

Kamalii Elementary School is a PK–5 school at 180 Kealii Alanui in Kihei, Hawaii, serving 342 students as part of the Hawaii Department of Education, the state's single statewide district. It is the second-smallest school among the eleven Maui elementary schools used for comparison, and because the whole state sits in one district, the meaningful comparisons are school-to-school rather than district-to-district.

By the numbers, Kamalii ranks 63rd of 203 Hawaii elementary schools (69th percentile, 4 stars) in 2025–26, up from 85th of 204 (58th percentile, 3 stars) the year before. Proficiency is 60% in English language arts, 56% in math, and 54% in science — second of eleven in both ELA and math, behind only Puu Kukui Elementary School. The sharpest local contrast is with Kihei Elementary School, 1.88 miles away: its ELA proficiency is 44% and math 36%, 16 and 20 points below Kamalii.
