Open Quote This school is great and deserves more than the 2 stars rate given. All the myths of people dying everyday and drug central are not true. Of course there's going to be kids that do drugs in every school but DCHS has just as much as any other school. Also students have many freedoms and privileges in the school. No need for tucking in shirts, however the basic dress codes are followed too. The only problem seen of DCHS may be the fighting, but these fights do not compare to those in New Manchester, which are more often and violent. The IB program is also available in DCHS, which is a great experience for going further in learning and being able to write more significantly with advance analysis and formats. DCHS is also ranked 9th for most challenging in the state of Georgia. This includes the IB program, AP, Honor, and the Normal classes. Last and most importantly , Douglas County High School consists of a wonderful Fine Arts program. I witnessed the students interact and enjoy classes with both musical teachers. Kudos to Mr.Khulken, Mr.Henson, Mr.Couch, and Mr.Stephens and every other hard working employee of DCHS Close Quote

Open Quote A lot of teachers here are coaches or year long subs ext... I was a student here back in 2005 and half my teachers didn't know anything about the subject they were "teaching". Most of them told you to read from the book, answer the questions at the end of the chapter and then test you, I don't think that is teaching, anyone could do that.I didn't benefit from going to this school at all. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
