Summary

Lewiston Elementary School in Evans, GA, serves 614 students from Pre-K through 5th grade as part of the highly regarded Columbia County School District—a 5-star district ranked 17th out of 201 districts statewide. The school has earned 5-star ratings for six consecutive years and currently ranks in the top 10% of Georgia elementary schools, sitting at the 93rd percentile statewide.

Lewiston's standout strength is mathematics. In the most recent testing year, proficiency rates ranged from 75.6% to 80% across grades 3-5—roughly 25-30 percentage points above state averages. This consistency is notable even among strong neighbors: while Parkway Elementary posts comparable math scores, Lewiston's 5th grade math proficiency (75.6%) far exceeds nearby schools like Cedar Ridge Elementary (42.7%) and Euchee Creek Elementary (53.4%). The school also excels with specific student groups, ranking in the 97th percentile statewide for African American students and the 92nd percentile for special education students—both earning 5-star ratings. Science proficiency (69.4%) exceeds district and state averages, though it trails Parkway's 80.2%, suggesting room for growth.

Perhaps most impressive is Lewiston's dramatic improvement in attendance. Chronic absenteeism has fallen from 13.3% in 2021-2022 to just 5.2% in 2025-2026—less than half the district rate (12.9%) and roughly one-third of the state rate (17.7%). Among nearby schools, only Greenbrier Elementary (4.5%) has a lower rate. The school also invests more per student ($13,768) than most neighbors, including Evans Elementary ($12,288) and Baker Place Elementary ($12,091). With a decade-long upward trajectory from the 83rd to 93rd percentile, Lewiston demonstrates that strong overall performance and excellent outcomes for diverse learners can go hand in hand.

Open Quote No behavioral handling, almost all students are unruly, loud, and disrespectful. No punishments, and parents seem to step all over the administration. "My child would never..!" -- every inconvenienced parent called in for little Johnny.
Lacks academic oversight, testing and comprehension is faulty and teachers don't give a crap. They use the volunteers, PTO, para-pros, etc. to "aid" the students, but they tend to do most of the gruntwork.

Lastly, the teachers kiss ass when confronted and have no spine. Consequences are thrown out the window the second a parent disagrees.

I have seen all this an much more. How is this school still functioning. The grades are even faked, exaggerated, and/or manipulated (SEEN FIRST HAND) Close Quote
