Summary

Ford Elementary School in Acworth, GA, is a well-regarded Pre-K through 5th grade school in the Cobb County School District, serving about 750 students from a largely residential, family-oriented area. The school consistently ranks among the top 15% of elementary schools in Georgia, currently placing 174th out of 1,219 schools statewide (86th percentile) with a 4-star rating. While its performance has eased slightly from a peak period between 2015 and 2019—when it regularly earned 5-star ratings and ranked as high as 44th in the state—it remains a strong, stable choice for families.

Ford Elementary stands out for its exceptionally low chronic absenteeism rate of just 4.5%, which is less than one-third of the district average (14.2%) and far below the state average (17.7%). This consistency, even during the pandemic-affected 2021-2022 school year, points to a positive school culture and strong family engagement. The school also excels in mathematics, with proficiency rates between 66% and 71% across grades 3-5 in 2025-2026, outpacing district averages by 13-18 points and state averages by 20-23 points. Science scores, while still above district and state averages, show more variability and represent a relative area for growth. Notably, Ford achieves these results while spending less per student ($16,703) than several nearby schools that rank lower, such as Frey Elementary ($18,495) and Lewis Elementary ($18,607).

Ford also demonstrates particular strength in supporting students with special needs, ranking in the 92nd percentile statewide for special education performance—a higher rating than its overall school ranking. Its African American students also perform strongly, ranking in the 89th percentile. Among nearby schools, only Due West Elementary (94th percentile) outperforms Ford, which ranks ahead of Kemp, Pickett's Mill, Vaughan, Bullard, and Lewis. It also leads the nearby Paulding County schools in the area. With a favorable 13.2:1 student-teacher ratio and efficient use of resources, Ford Elementary offers a stable, high-quality learning environment for families seeking a dependable academic foundation.

Open Quote Let’s put some accurate information out on the internet-teacher to student ratio isn’t 13:1 it is more like 28 to 1. The administration is a legit joke who only cares about their STEM qualification and school scores. If you read reviews it is only good ones whose children are in Target which is the “advance” class. If you dig deeper you will see there is nothing regarding kids with special disabilities etc. The school has many issues and I hope my mistake of learning the hard way and my child suffering will stop someone else from attending this dreadful place.
