Summary

Elite Scholars Academy School in Jonesboro, GA, is a public charter-style school within the Clayton County district serving 757 students in grades 6 through 12, and it has consistently ranked among the top 10 high schools in Georgia for the past four years.

This school is a true academic standout, especially when compared to its neighbors. In the most recent school year, 97.3% of students scored proficient in Algebra I, compared to just 31% across the district and 48.1% statewide. Biology proficiency hit 91.9%, while the district average was 29.6%. These dramatic gaps—often 60 percentage points or more above the district—hold true across nearly every subject, from 6th grade math (96.6% proficient) to 8th grade physical science (96.3%). The school also boasts a perfect 100% graduation rate for five straight years, and chronic absenteeism sits at just 3.6%, far below the district's 28% rate. For context, the nearest comparable school, Martha Ellen Stilwell School for the Performing Arts, also achieves a 100% graduation rate but trails significantly in academics, with 65.1% proficiency in Algebra I and 61.3% in Biology.

What makes this success even more remarkable is the context. The Clayton County district overall ranks in the bottom fifth of Georgia districts, yet Elite Scholars Academy ranks 7th out of 455 high schools statewide. The school achieves these results while spending slightly less per student ($14,505) than several lower-performing peers, and it maintains a higher student-teacher ratio (18.9:1) than many of them. This points to a school culture built on high expectations, rigorous curriculum, and strong student engagement. For parents, Elite Scholars Academy represents a proven model of excellence—one where students consistently outperform state averages by wide margins and where a 100% graduation rate is the norm, not the exception.
