Summary:

Coweta County is a high-performing Georgia school district of 29 schools—19 elementary, 7 middle, and 3 high schools—serving roughly 20,000 students in the suburban Atlanta area, and it ranks in the 83rd percentile statewide with a 4-star rating.

Families will find several standout options. Arbor Springs Elementary is the district's top-ranked school (48th in Georgia, 5 stars), with 86% proficiency in 5th grade Science and the lowest chronic absenteeism rate (7.2%). Blake Bass Middle School is a remarkable success story, jumping from 77th to 15th statewide in two years, with proficiency rates 15–21 points above district averages in every subject. Northgate High School leads the high schools with a 93.9% graduation rate, 1.1% dropout rate, and top scores in Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History. Brooks Elementary and Canongate Elementary also rank in the 93rd–94th percentile statewide. Meanwhile, Thomas Crossroads Elementary showed strong momentum, surging from 175th to 88th, and Glanton Elementary climbed 381 spots.

The district's biggest challenges are chronic absenteeism (19.2% vs. 17.7% state) and wide achievement gaps. East Coweta High School has a 34.2% absenteeism rate—nearly double the state average—while Jefferson Parkway Elementary ranks 984th with just 20–29% math proficiency. Smokey Road Middle School also struggles, with 16.9% 6th grade math proficiency. Notably, spending doesn't predict success: Blake Bass spends near the least yet ranks 15th, while Jefferson Parkway spends more but ranks near the bottom. The district excels in U.S. History (57.3% vs. 38.5% state) and 8th grade Science (47% vs. 29.7% state), but families should weigh school-specific data carefully given the wide range of outcomes.
