Summary

Learning Lodge Academy is a public charter elementary school serving 271 students in grades K-8 in New Port Richey, Florida, which is part of the Pasco school district. Despite having a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students, the school consistently outperforms the district and state averages in proficiency rates across various subjects and grade levels, particularly in 6th grade ELA and 7th grade math.

However, the school faces challenges with chronic absenteeism, with rates ranging from 28-31% in recent years, significantly higher than the state average of 15-20%. While Learning Lodge Academy outperforms many of the nearby traditional public schools, such as Richey Elementary and Moon Lake Elementary, some of the other charter and magnet schools in the area, like Dayspring Jazz and Richey Elementary, have even higher proficiency rates in certain subjects and grade levels.

Despite these challenges, Learning Lodge Academy appears to be operating efficiently, with lower per-student spending compared to some of the higher-performing nearby schools, such as Hudson Primary Academy and Chasco Elementary School. This suggests the school is making the most of its resources to support student learning, and with the right strategies to address chronic absenteeism, it could potentially become a top-performing school in the region.

Open Quote Very terrible school. I know many parents who pulled their kids out to go back to public or other schools finding that their kids are now behind and needed extra help or to be put back a grade level. My kids started the first year the school opened and the education continually declined. The school is run very poorly and there is a lack of communication. They actually seem to try to keep parents in the dark about what is happening. They seem to care more about money than kids, families and education. Glad to be out of there and getting back on track.
