Open Quote Take it from someone who's finishing her last year here. It's a terrible school. It wasn't always bad my 6th grade year was fun my 7th grade year sucked and now my 8th grade year is sucking even worse. Mrs. Nixon was a great principal. Ever since Mrs.Rush took charge when I did my 7th grade year last year everything had went downhill. Here's why. Number one because of the uniforms. They require that you can only wear navy blue polo shirts and khaki pants. I got sent home for not having a collar on my shirt even though it was navy blue. I've seen girls crying and embarassed from bleeding through their light colored khakis while on their cycles. She also makes us tuck our shirts in with belts and people being heavier like myself I feel insecure about doing it. Another thing is how she created this thing where you can only go up and down certain stairs and in and out certain doors. Im a student with a disability with bad feet and it's hard for me to do any uneccessary walking. When I go to my second period class which is in the 6th grade building instead of going left to where my class is her rules are that I have to go right because your not aloud to go down the stairs that are labled as the stairs you go up In addition I come home daily with swollen feet from excess walking. That's not it though. The teachers always cuss. There's a constant problem with drugs being brought to the school and always big drug dogs around children. Not safe at all. The kids jump each other there and the amount of profanity in a learing environment is just something you wouldn't imagine. Another issue is that the principle makes all teachers walk their students out the class. It's alot of classes in one hall so when she makes them walk us downstairs im late and im just getting out the door, and whats not fair about this is when you get 3 tardies in a row thats an automatic 3 day suspension. The last issue with this horrific school is that she makes the teachers walk us out to the buses. Let me tell you what's wrong here. She came up with this thing that if your not on the bus when they get down to one finger you get left and like I said the halls are filled with many classes so by the time you actually get out the doors you have to run just to make the bus, which I almost got left. The lunch is terrible we even once had a problem with meat not being cooked all the way thorugh and kids getting sick and maggots being in the breakfast one year. The school is not fit for learing and the plans to close it down should have been carried on. Mrs. Rush thinks she improving matter but when it comes to the truth shes only making them worse. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
